Programs
PUEC’s suite of educational initiatives includes Pontiac READS!, HIRE Pontiac!, PUEC Parent and Family Support Programing (Pontiac’s Best Summer Ever, Parent Town Halls, Referral Services, Kindergarten Connections), and School Community Connections (PUEC School Leader Calls, Early Childhood Learning programs), significantly enhances educational outcomes by targeting literacy, workforce readiness, parent support, school/community connections and early childhood learning.
This work brings together relevant leaders to problem solve, knowledge share, and collaborate around some of the most pressing issues impacting students and families in our community as it relates to educational outcomes. Included in this work is also our Early Childhood Learning initiatives which helps to lay a robust educational foundation, offering support to early childhood facilities while integrating STEM awareness and increasing parent engagement. Collectively, these programs advance educational outcomes by offering diverse, year-round support tailored to community needs, with a strong emphasis on engagement, literacy, career readiness, and STEM education.
HIRE! Pontiac
HIRE Pontiac, with its focus on workforce development, prepares students for STEM careers through comprehensive programming and summer internships, ultimately leading to higher graduation rates and employment rates in higher paying jobs.
Additionally, this work cultivates STEM knowledge and enthusiasm among students and families, aligning community and business resources to bolster STEM education.
Pontiac READS!
Pontiac READS! fosters literacy skills through year-round programming, utilizing computer adaptive learning technology to track and promote literacy growth among participants. This program not only aims to produce confident readers but also actively engages parents and caregivers in the educational journey.
Level Up Literacy
The Level Up Literacy – Reading Support Program, initiated by Pontiac READS!, is a comprehensive literacy support initiative that employs a research-backed adaptive learning computer program. This program is designed to accelerate literacy skill development for students of all abilities, facilitating their transition from learning to read to reading to learn.
Pontiac Best Summer Ever
Pontiac’s Best Summer Ever, Parent Town Halls provide parents and families with critical resources and skills to empower them to reach higher levels in their own careers, engage fully in their child(ren)’s education, overcome hardships, etc
